Welcome to the wonderful, fascinating and often
frustrating, world of Genealogy. We may find all manner of interesting ancestors,
whether they be people of influence or the humble worker. Whichever they may be,
their discovery leads us into another world where we have to learn about THEIR lives
so that we can better understand what has happened in OURS.
To this end, our Society has been helping people research and build their family trees for nearly 25 years and over that time, we have promoted and encouraged the pursuit of family history, for its medical value as well as its social record. The knowledge that ones genes may contain a hidden defect which can lead to serious consequences, gives the research even more immediacy.
Another of our aims is to collate diverse records of the early settlers in the Lower Great Southern Region of Western Australia, so that they are accessible to the public. How do we propose to do this?
By:
1. Preserving, recording and acquiring family histories and other genealogical material.
2. Operating a reference lending library and research centre.
3. Liaising and reciprocating with other societies having similar aims and interests.
4. Conducting meetings of members for the purpose of furthering the objectives of the Society. The Society has no religious or political affiliations and is open to all interested people whether they are members or not.
We are happy to assist with your Research or Look Ups for a modest fee.
Enquiries can be made by contacting one of the members on the Contacts Page.
